The huge range of activities on offer in Jersey means there is something to suite everyone, no matter what your age or pace of life. For a small island, Jersey is positively buzzing with things to do - not that they all require bags of energy. The vast choice ranges from enjoying a relaxing glass wine while taking in a stunning view of France, to experiencing a new sport that will get your adrenaline pumping.

The latter is most likely to take place on one of the islands's beautiful beaches. As well as more sedate activities, such as swimming and sunbathing you could be blokarting on St Ouen's beach jet skiing in St Aubin's Bay, or even sea kayaking around secret caves and coves in the north of the island. The coastline is also a paradise for walkers who can brave the rough and wild cliff paths of the north, or enjoy a gentle stroll along the sandy beaches of the south.

It is not all about the delights of the seaside, though. Moving inland there is a web of peaceful "green lanes" and tracks, which lead you through the Island;s leafy countryside. These can be enjoyed on foot or on two wheels, and a number of walks and cycle routes can be found at www.jersey.com.

You are sure to spot some of Jersey's native wildlife while you are out and about, but the island is also home to some rather exotic species at the international headquarters of Durrell Wildlife. Set among 32 acres is the trust's world-famous animal sanctuary, where you can see endangered species from all over the globe.

Durell is just one of a number of major attractions, which have been tried and tested by thousands of past visitors and offer entertainment for all ages. Some of the most interesting places to visit, however, are the heritage sites.

The island's long history comes to life everywhere you go, from magnificent castles, such as the iconic Mont Orgueil in Gorey, to Stone Age monuments and poignant reminders of German occupation during World War II.
